Proven problem-solving techniques that will save time and money

Systematic Problem Solving

How we solve problems

When faced with a problem, most of us solve it using the same solution that we have used before. Using the same solution to solve the same problem is not particularly effective. If the same solution worked, the problem would not have recurred.

Other people who have no experience in solving the problem, will think through the problem. Sometimes they find a solution, sometimes they do not. This process of searching for a solution is time-consuming and is mostly a trial-and-error effort.

Systematic innovation tools, which are more effective, solve problems in a systematic way, thus reducing guess-work and saving time and resources.

Many companies have adopted systematic innovation tools in their businesses with great success. The most notable company using TRIZ is electronics giant Samsung.

The workshop

This workshop is designed to teach you how to use systematic innovation tools to solve problems, make better decisions and generate ideas and solutions in a systematic way.

The workshop starts off with a look at the problem solving cycle and how many of us solve typical business problems. Most of the time, we solve problems either based on what has worked before or something ad-hoc. This way of solving problems tends to lead to solutions that may work in the short-term but not in the long-term.

You will learn how to analyse a problem using Multi-Screen Diagramming, Function Analysis and Root-Conflict Analysis. After that, you will move on to solving problems using Contradiction Matrix and Inventive Principles.

This workshop is highly participative and there are many exercises for you to work on.
